Joshua Arp took over the women’s tennis head coaching position in the fall of 2006. Coach Arp, a 1997 graduate of BBC is assisted by his wife Kelly, who played for the Lady Defenders in 2005. Josh is excited to be coaching for his alma mater and has high hopes for his team both on and off the court. On the court, Coach Arp looks to see these young women continue to build on the success of years past by playing competitively as a team and playing with the strength and ability relative to the competition they face. He hopes his athletes will benefit from the sport itself in terms of physical training, discipline, and focus.
Off the court, Coach Arp desires to see these young athletes discover how tennis can relate to the wider context of their lives and how tennis can be used in service to God. The team verse is; “Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and in truth (1 John 3:18).” Lord willing this team will show others how tennis can be used to portray their love for God and others.
Josh’s favorite verse is But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (NIV Romans5:8)

Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. (NIV Psalm 37:3-7) |
