This is Coach Amber Jacobs first year as the women's head basketball coach at BBC. Even though it is her first season, she brings many years of playing and coaching experience to the program. Coach Jacobs played locally for the Abington Heights High School girls' basketball team before being a four-year starter at Boston College. A team captain as a senior for Boston College, Jacobs earned AP Honorable Mention All-American and All-Big East second team. She also led her team to its first ever Big East Tournament Championship and two NCAA Sweet 16 appearances. Jacobs then went on to play in the WNBA with the Minnesota Lynx for four years (2004-07) followed by a season (2008) split between the Washington Mystics and the Los Angeles Sparks.
Amber Jacobs' coaching experience has come from the University of Toledo (2004-06) and the University of Rhode Island (2009-10) where she was an assistant coach at both institutions. Her duties will extend beyond coaching to the athletic office where she is the Assistant Athletic Director.
What Coach Amber Jacobs loves about coaching is that, "I am able to teach a game that I am very passionate about while instilling life values to my student-athletes. I want to help grow the student-athlete by taking them from where they are and excelling them to where they want to be as an athlete, a student, and a person. The intensity, competitiveness, enthusiasm, and discipline of the game of basketball fuels my desire to make those I coach the best they can be through effort and sacrifice."
Coach Jacobs' favorite verse is Psalm 63:3 "Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you." |
