Coach Pollock joins the Defenders coaching staff after serving as Head Coach of Summit Christian Academy for the past seven years. During his time at Summit, he compiled an impressive 122-50 record including three consecutive 20 win seasons.

Although he compiles a successful high school coaching resume, Pollock is no stranger to coaching at the collegiate level. He began his career at Baptist Bible College as a student assistant in 1983-1985 under current Defenders Athletic Director Jim Huckaby. After seven years at the high school ranks in Philadelphia and California, Matt returned to BBC as an assistant coach under Huckaby and as head junior varsity coach in 1992-1994.

Coach Pollock believes God has used the sport of basketball throughout his life to grow him in many ways. He appreciates the great influence of his father and high school coach Tom Pollock and the experience and training provided by Jim Huckaby during his college years. Mentoring students is now a passion for Pollock as he serves as Associate Dean of Students at BBC and he believes coaching basketball is an additional opportunity to help young people grow.

Coach Pollock has specific goals and objectives for the next few years. He states; “I want to continue the legacy of my predecessor, Coach Sherrie Holloway who has built an excellent program over the past twenty years. My first goal is to bring honor to our Savior, Jesus Christ by demonstrating an excellent testimony of Christian conduct and growing in a deeper relationship with God. My second goal is to develop a strong relationship as a team and to see us truly love one another. Third, I really want to see improvement of each player’s individual skills and their understanding of team strategy. And finally, without any question, I am committed to winning.”
