Lady Defenders Find Net Twice in Second for Homecoming Win
Clarks Summit, PA - After a scoreless first half, Erin Law (Franklin, NH) found Jessica Pollock (Clarks Summit, PA) from the left corner just five minutes into the second for the first goal of the game and a 1-0 lead.
That goal would prove to be enough but the Lady Defenders received an insurance goal from Sandy Richie (Derry, NH) with 21 minutes to play. Law was also credited for an assist on the second goal along with Lu Santos (Novo Hamburgo, Basil), her first assist of the season.
Richie's goal would finish the scoring on the day as Baptist Bible defeated Cazenovia College 2-0 and celebrated a Homecoming victory.
The Lady Defenders improve to 9-2 on the season with the win while the Wildcats fall to 5-4-2 with the loss.
Britney Westcott (Oneonta, NY) tallied 12 saves on the afternoon for Cazenovia.
Melanie Williams (Scranton, PA) and Cierra Byron (Columbus, OH) combined for three saves on the day for Baptist Bible.
Both teams will gear up for conference opponents in their next game. Cazenovia will travel to SUNY IT for a NEAC match-up Tuesday while Baptist Bible will travel to Philadelphia Biblical University in a CSAC game Thursday.
At halftime, three Baptist Bible seniors were honored for their hard work, service and dedication to their team as part of the day's Homecoming events. Jessica Pollock, Lu Santos and Melody Walsh met parents and close friends with a rose before being joined by their teammates and all parents at midfield for prayer.
