Sydney Emerges as Second Best Tourist Destination Worldwide

Sydney significantly climbed the ranks to take the status of the second best place in the world for vacationers in 2017 and 2018, according to U.S. News.

The global holiday research company released its list of “Best Places to Visit,” which put Rome on the top spot among more than 300 destinations. Sydney’s rank, however, represented an improvement since the city moved 11 spots from its previous position.

Sights to See

Those that plan to see the Opera House and Darling Harbour among other landmarks should enlist a mini bus for hire in Sydney with a driver from Concord Coaches. Tourists will find it easier to move from one place to another if they book chartered rides. Aside from the city’s famous structures, Sydney became the second best destination due to its warm climate that is ideal for going to the Coogee, Manly and Bondi beaches.

U.S. News based its ranking on Sydney on a 79 per cent approval rating from tourists’ feedback and experts’ opinion on different factors, including tourist attractions, food and the nightlife experience. Porto in Portugal, London and Paris completed the top five best tourist destinations.

Best in Australia

Sydney also topped the list of the 10 best tourist places in Australia and the Pacific, followed by Auckland in New Zealand and the Tahiti Island in French Polynesia. Four other Australian cities joined the list, comprising Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

City of Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore attributed the city’s local and international rankings to its top-notch dining spots, diverse culture and various holiday events. It also reflected efforts to turn Sydney into a global tourist attraction.

The rankings will likely improve Sydney’s tourism business as more people will flock to the city. For visitors, plan your trip ahead by including which transportation mode you intend to use during your stay.
